A brand new, multi-story Colonial Life arena is being built by Alienware, the maker of the popular Alienware A4 gaming laptop.
According to the press release, the Colonial arena will include a fully-equipped kitchen, lounge, and bar area, along with a large indoor track and field area.
The Colonial Life, located in the Colonial Park at the corner of Westheimer and Market Streets in the city’s historic Mission District, is owned and operated by the city.
The venue was built by a team of local developers and architects, and the city plans to expand the facility into a more expansive space.
The project is the latest in a series of high-profile announcements for the Colonial space, which will be the first major expansion in the sprawling district since the building’s construction in 2009.
The project is being spearheaded by the local architecture firm of Lark Architects.
The new Colonial Life will be one of two Colonial Life arenas that will open in 2019, the other being the new Colonial Field at the new Westheimer arena.
Both venues will be home to professional teams and a variety of other events.
