The Arizona Coyotes will be moving on from Ryan Johansson, a deal that was originally set to go to the New York Rangers.
Now, the team has announced that it will acquire defenseman Nolan Arenado from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for goaltender Anders Lindback.
The deal is expected to be announced sometime Monday afternoon.
The Devils have a 2-3-1 record since the trade was announced, though they are a couple of points out of the wild card spot.
This is a significant development for the Devils, who were in desperate need of a shot at the playoffs and a legitimate chance at landing a top-six forward.
Arenado, who is still under contract with the Devils for next season, would be a great fit in New Jersey, as he can play a number of positions.
He would add a solid depth piece and would bring some depth to the Devils blueline.
Arenados ability to skate and cut down on his penalties would be good for New Jersey as they have been lacking in penalty killing for a number the last few years.
With the addition of Arenado to the roster, the Devils now have a healthy group of forwards that can take some pressure off of Johansen.
The team could use some depth at forward and there are some players that could help the team on that end.
